As the lead marketing writer on League of Legends, I supported our Global Marketing Creative team as both an individual contributor and team lead. There, I mentored a team of writers and planned scope and strategy across our myriad marketing campaigns.
As a writer I oversaw the release of champions, player events, brand moments, collaborations, and more. I wrote cinematic scripts, gameplay trailers, web copy, social campaigns, in-game activations, and out-of-game experiences.
Core branding
I worked with our brand team to re-establish League of Legends’ written voice and core pillars for a new era.
We took on the challenge of distilling League of Legends’ diverse history, naming its defining characteristics, and distinguishing it from the rest of Riot Games’ portfolio.
I crafted an updated style guide to inform our tone and wrote player-facing copy for official storefronts, websites, launchers, and more. I also created base boilerplate copy to support any brand needs into the future.
Champions
I helped craft immersive launch packages for new League champions.
My work included ideating campaign strategy, creating style guides, writing champion spotlight scripts, designing out-of-game experiences, and providing publishing copy.
I collaborated with creative directors, video editors, narrative writers, and game devs to ensure our work accurately reflected and uplifted each champ’s unique player fantasy.
I was the writer for the release of Senna, Aphelios, Sett, Seraphine, Viego, Akshan, and Renata Glasc.
Events
I supported large-scale campaigns for League of Legends events, from music thematics like True Damage and K/DA to blockbuster moments like Star Guardian and Sentinels of Light.
For each thematic, I designed creative platforms, outlined player journeys, created narrative-driven experiences, wrote video scripts, and delivered written copy.
From music videos and social takeovers to puzzle sites and secret merch shops, I was excited to explore out-of-game storytelling opportunities to delight players and deepen their immersion.
